Split a 4-page PDF into 4 file(s).

How it works

  • Read the selected PDF's page tree with the local rewrite engine.
  • Resolve the every split into output files with their page selections.
  • Copy the requested pages into a fresh PDF per output and offer each for download.
  • Nothing is uploaded; the rewrite runs in your browser.

Methodology

  1. Read the document's page tree and validate the requested split against the real page count.
  2. Every-page produces one single-page file per page; fixed produces sequential parts; ranges produces one file per range.
  3. Copy the selected pages into a fresh PDF with the object-graph rewrite engine so every output reopens as a valid PDF.
  4. Reject out-of-range, reversed or empty ranges with a named finding and emit no partial file.

Usage

  1. Choose or drop a PDF.
  2. Pick a split mode: every page, fixed-size parts, or explicit ranges.
  3. Run the split and download each resulting PDF.

Examples

These are examples, not current values: they use fixed inputs, while the interactive tool computes live results in your browser.

Split a 4-page PDF into single pages

jsonSelect to copy
{
  "pageCount": 4,
  "mode": "every",
  "baseName": "report"
}

Split a 4-page PDF into 1-2 and 4

jsonSelect to copy
{
  "pageCount": 4,
  "mode": "ranges",
  "ranges": "1-2, 4",
  "baseName": "report"
}

Limitations

Local, valid outputs

Splitting copies the requested pages into a brand-new PDF document, so each result has a correct page tree, cross-reference table and trailer and reopens in any reader.

The tool never uploads your file and never leaves a partial output behind when a range is invalid.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The file is read and rewritten locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.
Why was no file produced for a range?
An out-of-range, reversed or empty range is reported by name and no partial file is emitted.
