Converted 1 row(s) and 2 column(s); every cell was preserved.

How it works

  • Parsed the input with the RFC 4180 state machine, honouring quoted fields and the custom quote/escape characters.
  • Re-emitted each cell with the chosen delimiter and quoting style.
  • Kept the header as the first record and used the chosen line ending.
  • A malformed input is reported as a finding rather than silently corrupted.

Methodology

  1. Parse the input per RFC 4180 with the configured delimiter, quote and escape characters.
  2. Re-serialize every cell, quoting only when a cell contains the delimiter, a quote, a newline or significant whitespace (or per the chosen quoting style).
  3. Preserve the header row and apply the requested line ending.

Usage

  1. Paste delimited text or choose a local file.
  2. Pick the input and output delimiters, the quote and escape characters and the quoting style.
  3. Run the conversion and copy or download the result.

Examples

These are examples, not current values: they use fixed inputs, while the interactive tool computes live results in your browser.

CSV to TSV

jsonSelect to copy
{
  "text": "name,note\nAda,\"a, b\"",
  "inputDelimiterMode": "comma",
  "inputDelimiter": ",",
  "outputDelimiterMode": "tab",
  "outputDelimiter": "",
  "quote": "\"",
  "escape": "\"",
  "quoting": "minimal",
  "newline": "\n",
  "firstRowHeader": true,
  "trim": false
}

Pipe-separated to semicolon

jsonSelect to copy
{
  "text": "a|b\n1|2",
  "inputDelimiterMode": "pipe",
  "inputDelimiter": "|",
  "outputDelimiterMode": "semicolon",
  "outputDelimiter": "",
  "quote": "\"",
  "escape": "\"",
  "quoting": "minimal",
  "newline": "\r\n",
  "firstRowHeader": false,
  "trim": false
}

Limitations

Round-trip safe

The serializer quotes a cell whenever it contains the output delimiter, a quote, a newline or leading/trailing whitespace, and doubles the quote character. Parsing the result yields the original matrix.

Frequently asked questions

Will my data change?
No. Every cell is copied; only the delimiter, quoting and line ending change, and the result re-parses to the same matrix.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The conversion runs locally in your browser.
