Plain-text preview for a 28 characters across 3 line(s).

How it works

  • The text is shown verbatim inside the preview pane; character data is never interpreted as markup.
  • Active content (scripts, event handlers, dangerous URLs, SVG/MathML and external resources) is removed; the result is rendered only inside an empty-token sandboxed preview.
  • Counts: 28 characters, 5 words, 3 lines.

Methodology

  1. Treat the document as plain text; no markup is interpreted.
  2. Count characters, non-space characters, words (split on Unicode whitespace) and lines deterministically.
  3. Store the document only in this browser, under one key, when the visitor opts in; remove it on Clear/Reset.

Usage

  1. Type or paste plain text; the counts update as you type.
  2. Turn on “Keep in this browser” to autosave locally; use Clear/Reset to remove the stored document.
  3. Use Copy or Download to take the text elsewhere.

Examples

These are examples, not current values: they use fixed inputs, while the interactive tool computes live results in your browser.

Multi-line text

jsonSelect to copy
{
  "text": "first line\nsecond line\nthird"
}

Three lines, five words.

Empty document

jsonSelect to copy
{
  "text": ""
}

Zero characters, zero words, zero lines.

Limitations

Private by default

The notepad writes nothing to storage unless you explicitly enable autosave. There is no account, server or upload.

Live counts

Characters, non-space characters, words and lines are recomputed from the document on every change, so the numbers always match what you typed.

Frequently asked questions

Is my note uploaded?
No. The text stays in your browser and is never sent to a server.
Where is my note saved?
Only in this browser, under one key, and only after you enable “Keep in this browser”. Clear/Reset removes it.
