Privacy
Runs entirely in your browser. Your input is never uploaded, stored, or sent to a third party.
Read a png container (8×8) from 3 reported item(s).
How it works
- Identify the container from its magic bytes.
- Parse the container structure (PNG chunks, JPEG segments, WebP/GIF headers).
- Decode any EXIF/IPTC/XMP blocks with bounds-checked offsets.
- Report each field, marking absent fields explicitly rather than inventing them.
- Read-only: the file is never modified and nothing is uploaded.
Methodology
- Identify the container from its magic bytes; an unrecognised file is reported as unknown rather than guessed.
- Parse the container with bounds-checked offsets: PNG chunks, JPEG segments and APP1/APP13 blocks, WebP RIFF chunks, GIF/BMP headers.
- Decode EXIF TIFF IFDs (IFD0, ExifIFD) and report known tags; a malformed segment is a named finding, never an exception.
- Report only what is present; an absent field is shown with an explicit "not present" state.
Usage
- Choose or drop a PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF image.
- Read the container summary, dimensions and colour depth.
- Scan the EXIF, IPTC, XMP and PNG-chunk fields; absent fields are marked as such.
Examples
These are examples, not current values: they use fixed inputs, while the interactive tool computes live results in your browser.

}Limitations
Read-only by design
The viewer identifies the container from real bytes and parses EXIF/IPTC/XMP/PNG metadata with bounds-checked offsets, so a malformed segment is reported rather than crashing. It never modifies the file.
An absent field is shown as absent. Where a value cannot be decoded (for example a compressed PNG text chunk or an AVIF box), the tool says so plainly rather than fabricating a value.
Frequently asked questions
- Does this remove metadata from my image?
- No. It is a read-only viewer. Nothing is edited, stripped or re-encoded, and the file never leaves your browser.
- Why is a field missing?
- The image simply does not contain that field. The tool reports absence explicitly instead of inventing a value.
